What is C.P.A.?

County Project Achievement

Any 5th-6th grade 4-H'er may participate in Cloverleaf CPA. CPA meets the Georgia Performance Standard requirements for 5th grade ELA5R1, ELA5R3, ELA5W1, ELA5W2, ELA5W3, and ELA5LSV2 and many teachers require CPA as a classroom grade. CPA is conducted during the regular scheduled 4-H Club meetings during the month of November.

4-H'ers must prepare a 3-6 minute presentation or a 4 minute performance in the Performing Arts categories. Most Cloverleaf Project Presentations are ILLUSTRATED TALKS; a presentation using posters or other props. EXCEPTIONS TO ILLUSTRATED TALKS ARE: Performing Arts - General, Instrumental and Vocal, and Public Speaking.

What is D.P.A.?

District Project Achievement

Any 5th-6th grade 4-H'er that has placed 1st at CPA may participate in Cloverleaf DPA. During Cloverleaf DPA, the competition is held on a Saturday in January at Georgia Highlands College (formerly Floyd College) in Rome, GA. During the competition, the 4-H'er presents his/her presentation again on a district level and competes with 4-H'ers from 11+ surrounding counties. Carnival games and activities are available for the remainder of the day until the Awards Ceremony. Those 4-H'ers who place 1st at the district competition will receive special recognition from the Walker County or Chickamauga School Board upon return.

4-H follows these rules:

  • Live Animals including small animals such as fish, hamsters, and hermit crabs are not permitted at Cloverleaf project competition.
  • 4-H Cloverleaf students are not allowed to bring to any competitions or have in their possession at school during any 4-H event, activity or function the following items: loaded or unload firearms, mace, box cutter, explosive devices including bullets and stun guns, razors, guns or replica of guns, chemical sprays, razor blades, darts, ammunition of any type, pellet or BB gun, night stick knife of any type or size stink bomb\pipe bomb, fireworks of any type, any homemade bomb or smoke bob, martial arts devices, paint bombs, any item that releases a spray, foam, smoke, gas, fire or odor, fuses for explosive devices, fighting chains, metal or brass knuckles, pen style laser pointers or any item not allowed by the county school system.
  • Foods projects that are illustrated talks are not appropriate avenues for food preparation and points may be deducted for demonstrating preparation stages.
  • Videos, slides, computers, may be used in the Photography and Communications projects only. 4-H'ers must provide their own slide projector, video projector, computer screen,extension cord, etc. Demonstration must be given in the room scheduled. This means there is a possibility that the demonstration could be scheduled in one of the open pavilions where darkening the room will be impossible.
  • Computer(s) and computer equipment/programs may be used in the Computer project only and again the 4-H'er must furnish all of his/her equipment. Demonstration must be given in the room scheduled. This means there is a possibility that the demonstration could be scheduled in one of the open pavilions where darkening the room will be impossible.
  • Overhead projectors and portable music players may be used in any demonstration, however, all equipment must be furnished by the 4-H'er. This includes the overhead projector, players, screen, extension cords, etc. Demonstration must be given in the room scheduled. This means there is a possibility that the demonstration could be scheduled in one of the open pavilions where darkening the room will be impossible.
