Houston County is pleased to announce that we will be offering a Master Gardener Advanced Training Class entitled “Advanced Concepts in WaterSmart Landscape Design.” The class will be taught by representatives from SC, GA, and AL Extension via videoconference on August 19, September 16, and October 14. Classes will be held at the Houston County Extension Office, 801 Main Street, Perry, GA, with morning sessions in the classroom and afternoon sessions in a hands-on environment in the community. Class begins at 8 AM and students are released at 4 PM each day. Lunch will be served on site and is included in the registration fee of $50.
This class is offered to satisfy the specialization requirement for Master Gardeners to attain a Gold Star Level. In order to get credit, a student must attend all three modules. Signature of approval by County Agent is required on registration form, so registration form must be downloaded, completed, and mailed with check made out to Houston Horticulture. Class size is limited to the first 25 registered.
The most recent edition of our home gardening newsletter, The Garden Bench, is now available on our website. Check out the new format, colors and pictures! Hats off to Diane Stephens, our editor, for doing such a great job with this bi-monthly publication.
