Community Service Projects

 

All community service items are due at the meeting in order to receive a clover point. If this is a problem or if you are out sick from school on the day of the meeting, they may be turned in to the 4-H office on that day or the next workday by 5 pm.  If they are brought in after this date you will not receive a clover point.

You can bring 10 pop tabs to each meeting to

receive 1 clover point and 1 clover point for wearing a 4-H t-shirt.

September: Bring a pair of new warm socks for a resident of a local nursing home.

Valley Agricultural Fair

September 14-15, 2007

 

Start getting your projects together to enter. Fair Entries and Baked Goods sheet are due on

August 30. The actual Baked Goods are due September 13.  See handout for more details.

Georgia National Fair

October 4-14, 2007

Some items entered in the Valley Ag Fair can be entered in the Georgia National Fair, also. The entry forms are due on September 6 and completed Mini-booth is due September 10.

T-shirts are available to purchase at the 4-H office. They cost $10.00 each. You can mail a check to the 4-H office at Harris County Extension, P.O. Box  346, Hamilton, Ga. 31811. The shirts will be delivered to you at your school or you can come by the 4-H office in Hamilton and purchase one.

 Service in Action.

Harris County 4-H
collected and delivered 78 lbs. of pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald House. We also delivered canned goods and clothing to 
FOCUS. Holiday cards to Meal on Wheels and the Senior Center, warm socks to a nursing home, and Campbell Soup labels for Harris Co. Schools.

REQUIREMENTS FOR BEING AN OFFICER:

**You must compete at County Project Achievement. If you don’t, you will not be eligible to be an officer next year.

**You must attend Cloverleaf Officer Training. Cloverleaf Officer Training will be held  October  4 in Hamilton at the 4-H Clubhouse. There will be two classes, the first class will be from 4:00 P.M. til 5:00 P.M and the second class from 6:00 P.M til 7:00 P.M.  All elected officers must attend one of the classes. This training is necessary so you will know how to carry out your officer duties and responsibilities.

OFFICER DUTIES:

President:  Conduct meetings.  Remind class: when the next meeting is, what the community service project is for the next month, and remind them to bring completed handouts and in-class

demonstration items to the meeting.

 

1st Vice President: Will conduct meeting if President is absent. In charge of keeping a list and checking handouts.  List goes to the 4-H Leader. Help remind President of which handout is due for the month. Lead the American Pledge.

 

2nd Vice President: In charge of keeping a list of who turned in Community Service items. Helps remind President of what the community service project is for the month. Lead the 4-H Pledge.

 

Secretary:  In charge of taking minutes and reading them at the meeting..
