Habersham County 4-H News

In-School 5th & 6th grade club meetings will begin in November.

JR Club (7th-8th) & SR Club (9th-12th)meets the 1st Wednesday of each month at the Extension Office. Nov we plan to paint pumpkins for community leaders, Dec we plan to make Christmas wreaths.

Livestock Show Team will be participating in area Beef Cattle shows in Nov - March.

Livestock Judging Practices will be hosted at the 4-H Office on Thursdays begining Dec 4th until the contest in Athens on Friday, Jan 30th.

We are also planning our 2007-2008 Awards Banquet Dec 11th at 7:00 PM. Let me know if you are interested in helping. Renee Smagur is chairing the planning committee.

JR/SR Portfolios due early January for the March 6-8th DPA

4-H Day at UGA Basketball Jan 24th vs Mississippi State University

Cloverleaf DPA March 28th.

Poultry Judging begins in February and ends with the District Poultry Contest in April.

4-H Day at UGA Gymnastics is February 28th

Archery resumes on Tuesday, March 3rd after school from 4:30 - 7:00 PM. Thank you to Wendell Daily for volunteering to attend the Nov certification training. We desperately need coaches to get certified! Next trainings: Dec 5-7 or Feb 20-22. The State Tournament will be hosted at Rock Eagle on April 24-26th. Camp Fortson will be hosting in Indoor Archery Tournament on February 28th.

Cloverleaf Camp at Burton 4-H Center at Tybee Island June 29-July 3rd.

Marine Resources Camp at Jeckyll Island July 6-10th.

Senior Camp at Washega in Dahlonega June 29-July 3rd.

Homeschool students are welcome to join the JR/SR meetings and any other activities they might be interested in at any time.
