The Coweta Cattlemen’s Rodeo Association will sponsor their 18th annual rodeo on Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th at the Coweta County Pine Road Fairgrounds.  Gates will open at 7:00 p.m. with the rodeo getting underway with the grand entry at 8:00 p.m.  The rodeo is professionally sanctioned and will include bull riding, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, team roping, steer wrestling and barrel racing.  The athletes are professional cowboys and members of the International Professional Rodeo Association.  Professional rodeo clowns will provide entertainment and vendors will be on the grounds featuring western wear and tack.  Concessions will also be available. Admission prices are $10.00 for adults; $6.00 for children 4-12; and children 3 and under free.  Friday night is family night with all children admitted ½ price when accompanied by an adult.  Saturday is “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” night.  A portion of the proceeds Saturday night will benefit breast cancer charities in Coweta County. All tickets are sold at the gate.

Coweta County Youth Fishing Rodeo - Saturday, May 31 from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Welcome Farms located at 334 Welcome to Sargent Road in Newnan. Gates open at 7:30 a.m. (Do NOT arrive earlier) Concessions and restroom facilities will be available on the premises. This event is for youth only, 5th grade and under. Adult supervision is required. Adults may assist children in baiting hook and casting. Bring your own bait (hot dogs, chicken livers, worms - no minnows or shiners). Bring your own fishing equipment. The pond has been stocked with channel catfish for the rodeo. The Coweta County Youth Fishing Rodeo is sponsored by Coweta County 4-H, Coweta County Extension, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Welcome Farms, Boy Scouts and Newnan-Coweta Jaycees. IMPORTANT: This is a great opportunity for younger 4-H members to participate in or for junior & senior members to help with. We are looking for at least one adult and 2 4-H'ers to do registration for this wonderful community service event. Any combination of adults and 4-H'ers, as long as we have 3-4 people, would be wonderful.

Coweta County Master Gardener Spring Garden Gate Tour - Saturday, May 31, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. The ticket price of $20 includes lunch. Backyard Association - Backyard Association - The Backyard Association is sponsored by the Coweta County Master Gardeners and provides free gardening sessions for the general public the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The sessions last approximately one hour, and Master Gardeners are available before and after the session to help with gardening questions. At the June meeting our guest speaker will be Scott McMahan of McMahan's Nursery in Clermont, Georgia. They are a retail nursery specializing in hardy, unusual perennials, shrubs and trees for the southeastern U.S.
Some of their favorites for 2008 include: Hydrangea paniculata 'Pinky Winky', Ceratostigma griffithii & Mahonia eurybracteata. The meeting will be Tuesday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Coweta County Fairgrounds. Call 770-254-2620 to register for door prizes.

The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension in coordination with area agencies provides useful information regarding water conservation.  Several websites have wonderful information on how you can conserve water, outdoor and indoor conservation tips, and links to other sites that also provide excellent information.
