4-H Youth Development

  • How do I join?
    • Join 4-H as a member or a leader by contacting the Coweta County Extension Office at 770-254-2620. University of Georgia staff can help you pursue involvement in Coweta County 4-H and you will have access to a world of opportunities in 4-H. Select from more than 50 project areas, participate in any of hundreds of events, apply for scholarships, travel around the world. Your county extension 4-H office is the door of opportunity for you.

      Membership guidelines for students:

      Any person, regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, or disability may enroll as a 4-H member.

      Youth who are nine years of age and have not reached their nineteenth birthday on or before January 1, of the current year may enroll in 4-H clubs and groups.

      Adult Volunteer leaders are welcome and needed in all county programs. A registration form and certification process is available in all county extension offices.

none Come Camping With Us!!! June 23 – 27, 2008
Your mom, dad, aunt, uncle or grandparent (s) may have camped at Rock Eagle when they were your age and they are still talking about it. Now it is your turn to join in the fun. Swimming! Raptors! Tennis! Canoeing! Archery! Wildlife! These are just a few of the many activities you are able to participate in throughout the week. Now get excited…it is just about time! 4-H Cloverleaf Summer Camp at Rock Eagle invites fifth and sixth graders to summer camp. Registration is closed but we are taking applications for a waiting list. Call the Coweta County Extension Office at 770-254-2620 for more information. Get a camp application here!

Conferences

During the year, Junior (7th and 8th graders) and Senior (9th - 12th graders) 4-H'ers have the opportunity to attend district and state conferences. While attending, you will meet new friends from across Georgia, participate in community service projects, and attend exciting workshops. Registration and application information will be given out during 4-H club meetings or you can call the 4-H Office.

General Info

The mission of Georgia 4-H is to assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society. This mission is accomplished through "hands-on" learning experiences, focused on agricultural and environmental issues, agriculture awareness, leadership, communication skills, foods and nutrition, health, energy conservation, and citizenship.
