Cooperative Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Agent: Sandy Foster

What should you eat to stay healthy? Extension educators answer that question by phone, in classes, or at manned exhibits with publications. Topics include nutrition for children, teens, and the elderly, as well as special needs such as lowering cholesterol, triglycerides, sodium, fat and sugar. Other related topics that affect health are: food preservation, preparation, safety and purchasing.

Cooperative Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Agent: Sandy Foster

The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension, the Georgia Public Service Commission, Atlanta Gas Light and the Gas Marketer industry work together to provide consumer education for natural gas customers in Georgia. We have formed a customer education program with 10 UGA Extension Natural Gas Educators to assist Georgians in all areas related to natural gas.

Family Development and Resource Management

Cooperative Extension Coordinator: Kim Siebert

Educational opportunities and resources are available in the areas of basic developmental needs of the total family (from infancy to senior adults); improving family relations; basic parenting skills; and in-service training for care providers; in the areas of child care, personal care homes for seniors, and nursing homes. Resources are available to help individuals and families become better able to manage their finances, and include: the money management series, correspondence courses, classes and limited individual consultations. Home visiting, parenting education and support services are also available.
