Farmers' Market Information
The Athens Farmers Market will begin the 2010 season on May 8th at Bishop Park (705 Sunset Drive) from 8am until noon. The season will continue through November 20th. During the third year of operation the market will continue featuring local produce, baked goods, coffee, juice, prepared foods, local meats, music and crafts. The Athens Farmers Market is now accepting applications for the 2010 season through February 28th. Applications can be found at www.athensfarmersmarket.net
The market is also pleased to announce the opening of the Athens Farmers Market Downtown on May 11th. This market will be on Tuesday evenings from 4-7pm in the parking lot of Little Kings located at 223 West Hancock Avenue. The market will feature produce from local farms, coffee, juice, baked goods, music and prepared foods from local restaurants.

Master Gardener Program

The 2011 Master Gardener program is now accepting applications and are due no later than November 1, 2010. The 2011 program will be held January through March of 2011 on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:45 until 8:15 pm. All classes are held at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia.

Master Naturalist Program
The Georgia Master Naturalist program is an Adult Environmental Education course developed by UGA Cooperative Extension and the Warnell School of Forest Resources for people who wish to be more informed about habitats, ecosystems, and the natural environments of our state. Classes are held yearly during April and May, during the day once a week for 9 consecutive weeks. This program is combination of lectures and outside hands-on learning through field studies and relevant resource materials. Most classes will be held at Flinchum’s Phoenix in Athens but there are also field trips within an hour drive of Athens.
