Roots and Shoots
Roots and Shoots Educational Program is a research-based horticultural instructional series for lower and middle school students. Roots and Shoots began in the fall of 1995 at the Bamboo Farm & Coastal Gardens. The program is based on the Chatham County Board of Education's Quality Core Curriculum guidelines. The program is available by reservations only and is taught Monday through Friday during the school year at the Bamboo Farm & Coastal Gardens. Each group receives a 45 minute farm tour and a 45 minute indoor lab. Each year about 3500 students receive educational benefits from the program and facilities.
