Phytoplankton Monitoring
4-H’ers can learn about phytoplankton by participating in a collection at the St. Marys Paper Mill Dock and observing it under the microscope at St. Marys Elementary School.  This activity is available to all 4-H’ers and occurs one Wednesday a month with the collection at 3:45 p.m. and the observation at 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Community Service

For the community service project we will be collecting money to adopt a sea turtle. Continue bringing any financial donations until we get the $50.00 to adopt a turtle at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center.

Coastal Invasive Species Training

The Camden County 4-H program is part of a grant (financial donation) from the Marine Extension Service in Savannah to educate the public on invasive species that live in our coastal waters. The grant is specified to provide training to 5th grade 4-H’ers in Camden County on January 26, 2008. The 4-H’ers will then have information to take home to their parents and will give a short presentation in their March or April Club Meeting about what they learned in the training. See the flyer for more information

Coastfest - Brunswick DNR - October 2007

4-H'ers from the Marine Science Club attended the Coastfest Event in Brunswick in October where they learned about Geocaching and Treasuring Hunting from the Glynn County 4-H Club, made bird houses, looked at marine animals, and had a great time learning about the marine environment.
