Camden 4-H Horse Club

We would like to promote our new 4-H horse club. We began with an cook out orientation in September with 100 4-H'ers and parents attending to learn more about the new club at the Woodbine Waterfront. The club has began monthly meetings at the Camden Annex next to the Camden County Library on the second Monday of the month from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. (date subject to change). We are also training the 4-H Horse Quiz Bowl Team with practices on Tuesday's and Thursdays at the 4-H office in Woodbine from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. The club also went on a field trip to the Parelli Horsemanship Clinic at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center in October. If you are interested in being part of the club and/or volunteering please call the 4-H office at 576-3219.

Horse Day Camp - Summer Fun Activity

4-H’ers enjoy a day with the horses
Camden County 4-H’ers enjoyed a horse day camp at Palmetto Oaks Stables on June 20, 2007. Participants learned about horse anatomy & terminology, how to measure height, grooming, correct methods of putting on a saddle, and beginning riding lessons. Instructions were provided by Teresa Sawyer. This day camp was part of the introduction to the 4-H Horse Club. If you are interested in participating in the new horse club beginning this fall, please call the 4-H office to be put on the mailing list at 576-3219. This will be available to youth in 5th – 12th grade.
