Camden 4-H Horse Quiz Bowl Team place in Top 10
The Camden 4-H Horse Quiz Bowl Team participated in their first contest on Saturday, January 27th at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. The team practiced on Tuesdays and Thursdays in December and January. Preparation included reviewing and memorizing up to 3000 questions on general horse anatomy, history, chemistry, biology, and lifestyle. In the double elimination style quiz bowl, 4-H members learn not only equine science related subject matter, but the valuable life skills of contributing to a group effort, teamwork, learning to learn, critical thinking, planning and organizing, cooperating and communicating. The team won the first two rounds placing them into the winner’s bracket. They won another round and lost two rounds to the previous 2005 and 2006 Horse Quiz Bowl State Champions. Upon elimination, the team was in the top ten out of 28 teams participating. We are very proud of this team and their accomplishments with their first contest.
